Starbucks is coming to Atmore, with groundbreaking set for this month.
Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2020 with plans for a fall grand opening just off I-65 near the casino. The Atmore location is projected to draw an additional 300 cars and 750 customers daily from I-65 Exit 57.
“I see this as a great opportunity to introduce travelers to Wind Creek, the Poarch Creek Indians and the town of Atmore. Starbucks will provide a well-respected, international brand to residents of Escambia and surrounding counties,” said Wind Creek Atmore Property Manager Tim Ramer.
The 2,000 square foot stand-alone facility will offer convenient drive through, seated dining and full retail store across the street from the Creek Convenience Store on Poarch Road, adjacent to the Spa at Wind Creek. The destination will occupy a prime location for coffee lovers; the nearest Starbucks along the I-65 corridor are north 113 miles in Prattville and south 47 miles at Springhill Avenue in Mobile.
The project is expected to create 20 or more permanent jobs for local residents in addition to temporary construction jobs.

I’ve been in Atmore for years and they just want to die as a town, nothing new in years. It’s like they want the town to be a historic monument and never advance. Sorry no profits in that, advance or die, I’m all for the Indians doing it up in a big way at least I can go actually eat somewhere decent and take my daughter to multiple movies of our choice. I can even go bowling afterwards.

Atmore is going down hill in town small stores do not survive. I am glad poarch is starting a new town good job poarch I will back what ever you do. Poarch has helped alot of people. Glad pci is bringing in new jobs .

This WOULD be great, however, this wouldn’t have happened if not built on Wind Creek land so they can get a percentage of the profit. In order for them to get a cut, they are having to locate it across from the Smoke Shop. Currently, there are valet parking spots where the new Starbucks will be, and that means that my husband (who works in Valet) is going to receive less tips! Of course PCI doesn’t care about their employee’s; they’d much rather ANY DAY to benefit their own pockets because they’re not getting enough as is.
When people can’t park, the valet runners can’t retrieve their vehicles. With less retrievals comes less tips to support the families of valet. This is greatly going to effect our household income. THANK YOU SO MUCH, PCI.

Although, I’m not a Starbucks “regular”, I do hope this will be a great place for someone to work. Just because it might not be your scene doesn’t mean it’s bad for our town. As long as The Coffee House in Atmore continues to serve well, this shouldn’t hurt what they have going. The Atmore locals are loyal people.

Man. Everyone is really down on a new company in town that will make some jobs. Not to mention that Starbucks does a lot more for their people (pay, insurance, etc.) than a lot of other places.

Well I hope they dont go out of business………..
But I do hope a bunch of homeless folks find it a warm place to hang out for days on end..
Dont care for their politics and just dont care for that nasty burnt bean water they sell..

@Jimmy
Now we all know the majority of people that dine here are going to be the same right-wingers that drive their children through the drive-through in their huge suburbans to get the babies a coffee. Then heading to Chick-Fil-A for a twenty dollar kids meal.
I dont know of anyone else that thinks this is a “liberals spot”, everybody knows Starbucks is a rich white thing. (This is coming from a white guy) - D on January 7th, 2020 5:54 am
Hopefully it’s cleaner than the casino. And hopefully they have a state health inspector instead of Poarch where their paid off….
- Bmr on January 6th, 2020 11:21 pm
I will not give them any of my money. The Coffee House has my loyalty.

Not a fan. It would be nice to get business built actually IN what used to be known as Atmore also. This has one interest stopping point – the Casino.
This is a bad recipe when all city development rides a casino barge. These businesses can’t all just keep piling up in one basket on one side of town. When that well dries up that will be a sad sight to see.
- WC on January 6th, 2020 2:57 pm
Now it it be great to have a new hospital out there.
- Crystal on January 6th, 2020 2:41 pm
If they are putting it near McDinakds or Hardees better get another traffic light. Needs one already
- miixster on January 6th, 2020 1:45 pm
this business will be relying heavily on the I-65 traffic to keep the doors open, one in town wouldn’t make it.
- Missysmom on January 6th, 2020 1:05 pm
I am not bashing Starbucks, but a Krystal’s would be nice, take notice Atmore.
- paul on January 6th, 2020 12:41 pm
mmm nothing like a expensive cup ‘o joe to start off the day!
- G Byrd on January 6th, 2020 11:29 am
As great as this is, I do wish that the TOWN of Atmore would get some new places. No, the drive from Atmore to the Casino is not far, however, I feel that the town itself is a dying breed with all of the new places being built at that location.
